Pikey Peak Trek is a splendid trek which takes you to the dramatic Sherpa’s trails of lower Khumbu Region. Pikey Peak (4068m) offers you the tantalizing sunrise and sunset view over the snow-capped mountains. Along with the enchanting views of mountains, one can experience the unique Sherpa culture and many Buddhist monasteries and Stupas.
Located at the lower Solukhumbu region of Nepal, Pikey Peak Trek starts with the scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar. Then, you trek towards Japre, which is the starting point of the trek. You will visit the famous Yak Cheese Factory on the way to Pikey Base Camp and you can taste the cheese produced there. From the base camp, continue the hike towards the top of Pikey Peak where you can get an absolutely breathtaking the view of sunrise and sunset reflected off the panoramic range of Mount Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m) and other mountains. It is said that Sir Edmund Hillary also claimed that the stunning view of Mt. Everest (8848m) from Pikey Peak was his favorite. Then from here, you will return back along the beautiful Sherpa villages; Loding, Junbesi, Taksindu, and Phaplu. Another main attraction of this trek is Taksindu La Pass (3870m) which offers the picturesque view of Khumbu Region. On the way, you will a pass number of Buddhist monasteries and stupas. Thubten Choeling Monastery, Taksindu Monastery, and Chiwong Gompa are the famous monasteries of this region. Chiwong Gompa is the most famous among the Sherpa people here as the main festival Mani Rimdu Festival is celebrated here. This festival is held once in a year and also one of the most important festivals of the Sherpa people. Pikey Peak Trek itself might only be 9 days long but it is still enjoyable and adventurous even for first-time trekkers. The best visiting season for this trek is in autumn (Sep-Oct-Nov) and spring (March-April-May).

Upon arrival, our representative picks you up at Tribhuvan International Airport and accompany you to your respective hotel. You can get the cultural Nepali dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.

Taking an early leave, you go to Dhap Bazaar as you pass through Okhaldhunga during 8-9 hours of driving. On our way, you will drive through the dense forests of Pine and rhododendron, several small villages and the Koshi River. Along with the team, you will begin the trek of 4 hours to Japre. You will view many little Gompas on the way. Overnight in the lodge.

From Japre, the trekking trail continues in a dirt road then uphill through pine and rhododendron forests. Then the trail takes you to Lhamuje, where you will see the small pond and newly built teahouses. From here, you will walk up and down and visit the Yak Cheese Factory. Then walking along the side of long Mani Wall you will arrive at Pikey Base Camp.

You will take an early morning short climb to enjoy the gorgeous view of the sunrise over the Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m) and the number of peaks from the Pikey Peak. After enjoying the beautiful views from the top of the peak you will return back and hike towards Jase Bhanjyang (3549m) and have some rest. Then, you continue walking to Loding through fir forests passing small Chortens.

Today, you have to walk through stunning shortcut trail towards Junbesi. The trail continues to Tumbuk towards Junbesi. Junbesi is the traditional Sherpa villages which are the cradle of Sherpa culture and architecture. On reaching Junbesi you can rest your tiring legs and visit the famous Thubten Choeling Monastery.

After having breakfast, you will pass through a river and ascend the forests at Salung to get the awe-inspiring views of peaks. Then you will short climb up to Ringmo village which is famous for apple orchards, apple pies, and apple wine. Then continue the walk towards Taksindu La (3870m). Then you will descend towards Taksindu village. You can have some rest and visit the Taksindu Monastery.

Today you will walk along the beautiful path down to Phaplu through the dense forest. The beautiful valley of Phalpu is an airport village where you stay overnight at teahouse. You can also choose to hike up to the monastery named Chiwong Gompa. In this Gompa, a beautiful celebration is done in the Mani Rimdu Festival. Due to this reason, it stands out as a prominent religious site.

You take 35 minutes flight from Phalpu to Kathmandu enjoying the views of snow peaks. Back in Kathmandu, you can explore local streets with guide and World Heritage Sites like the Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa and Durbar Square areas.
