During the year 1981 A.D, Prince Charles alongside his 90 camp followers embarked on a journey tracing the shrub-like path alongside the foothills of the majestic Annapurna Himalayan Range, which, today, is famously called The Royal Trek. While the snowy tops of Annapurna I (8,091m), II (7,937m), III (7,555m), South (7,219m), Machhapuchhre (6,997m) peek over the horizon mesmerizing pathways adorned with vibrant rhododendron govern the landscapes. The unique culture of Gurung communities who primarily reside in the region is both fascinating and enticing. This all comes with an added sense of discovery and an authentic experience often in solitude through mesmerizing sights and sounds.
The Royal Trek begins from the capital city of Kathmandu itself where we tour around the UNESCO world heritage sights enchanted by their beauty. Next up is the city of lakes well known amidst trekkers for its Himalayan views, mesmerizing beauty, and pleasant climate. Enjoying the tranquility of Pokhara Valley we head towards Kalikasthan crossing the culturally rich city of Bijaypur on the way. A relatively short journey, the trail enters lush green forests while the Himalayas slowly begin to show themselves over the horizon. Crossing the hamlet of Syaklung we reach Chisapani which although lies at an altitude of 2300m is the highest point of the trail and is blessed with a stunning panorama of the Himalayas. Enjoying the 360-degree views of the Himalayas, we begin our descent heading back to Pokhara ending the Royal Trek. All along the way, the trail winds through vibrant hamlets where we get a chance to interact with the locals and learn about the unique way of life followed for generations. The Royal Trek traverses the Annapurna region, and along the most marvelous trails at that making it one of the better options to individuals who desire more in a short span of time.
