The Ghorepani Poonhill trek via Ghandruk begins with a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu, the cultural hub of the country. After a quick excursion of the world heritage sites, the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek begins with a drive or flight to Pokhara. The options to reach Pokhara are reserved as per the preference of the travelers and both offer astounding scenic displays. From Pokhara, a short drive will lead to Nayapul, where the magnificent trek ensues. Climbing the famed stone-steps, the trek makes way to Ulleri. The next destination, Ghorepani, is at the end of a ravishing trail amid the Annapurna Conservation Area. This Gurung village is where the travelers get a taste of the culture of the Gurung community. Hike to Poonhill on the following day books enchanting affair with nature. The glistening Himalayas drenched in the golden hues of the morning sunrise are awe-inspiring, and no other way can it be described to illustrate the majesty of nature. The trek further takes you to yet another Gurung village of Ghandruk. The ravishing Gurung culture, magnificent Himalayan views, and the heart-warming hospitality at the village have made it one of the most sought-after destinations in the whole Annapurna. The trek then ensues on the descent to reach Pokhara and finally ends with a drive to Kathmandu. The Ghorepani Poonhill Trek via Ghandruk is best when done in autumn (September- November) and spring (March-May), although, other seasons are great as well.

Strolling around Kathmandu allows you to witness the history, the culture, the tradition, and many ancient heritages belonging to an era gone by. Today, you will visit the UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath. Along with this, you can get to experience different colorful streets when you visit the Durbar Squares. Overnight in Kathmandu.

The drive to Pokhara exposes you to the beauty of two main rivers—Trishuli and Marsayangdi—that follow you almost in your entire road trip to Pokhara. You can see many settlements, animals, and farmlands on your way. Alternatively, a flight to Pokhara gives you a bird’s eye view of the mountains of the Annapurna region. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Pokhara.

Half an hour drive from Pokhara will take you to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. The view of Machhapuchhre (6993m) and Annapurna massif is visible during the drive too. Following the trails of Modi River and passing several villages like Birethanti, Ramghai, Sudame, etc., you will reach the Magar village of Ulleri through Tikhedhunga. You will get a gorgeous view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Patal Hiunchuli (6441m) from Ulleri. Overnight in Ulleri.

Enjoying the view of Annapurna South (7219m) in the background, you trek alongside Bhurungdi Khola to reach Banthanti. Then the trek goes on to forests of rhododendron crossing small streams and arrives in Nangethanti village. You continue walking through the forests until you reach the Gurung village of Ghorepani. Enjoy the stunning vista of the Annapurna Himalayas. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Poon Hill is exceptionally beautiful when the first rays of the sun strike the hills and the mountains. Therefore, you will hike early in the dawn in order to reach Poonhill. At Poon Hill, the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs along with Machhapuchhre (6993m), Nilgiri (7061m), and other snowy-peaks fill up the skyline making it a view to remember. After observing the magnificent view, you will hike down to Ghorepani and head to the largest Gurung settlement in the Annapurna region, Ghandruk. To reach Ghandruk, you will walk downhill on stone stairs placed amid lush rhododendron forests. Later, you can stroll around the picturesque village and also visit the Gurung Culture Museum there. Overnight in Ghandruk.

Firstly, you will descend to Nayapul on the flagstone steps through the forest. Then, from Nayapul, you will drive back to Pokhara. The drive is comfortable and passes through many farmlands. Upon reaching Pokhara, you can enjoy boating in Phewa Lake. In the evening, feel free to enjoy the music and food of the lake city by the lakeside area. Overnight in Pokhara.

You will, once again, follow Trishuli and Marsayangdi Rivers as you drive to Kathmandu. The highway is full of forests, hills, and many cultivated lands. In Kathmandu, you will be driven to your hotel so that you can rest. You can head out in the evening to enjoy the vibrant environs of Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
