Mardi Himal Peak Climbing is an ideal choice for those looking for short treks with quality time in the diversified landscape and environment. The whole trip is 15 days long with 11 days of trekking. The journey begins in Kathmandu and after around 6 hours of drive, you will reach Pokhara. Your first trekking destination is Hyangja from where you trek to Ghachowk. Then, you move to Sano Khoban and Pipa and stay one more day in Pipa for acclimatization. Passing through Thulo Kharka and Mardi Himal Base Camp, your summit towards Mardi Himal gets started. There will be little technical difficulty while leading to the East Face as you have to walk along the fresh snow. Then continue walking through the col on the ridge between Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre. From here, you will reach High Camp and then climb to the col towards west. The steep ascent up the snow slopes takes you to the summit. From the summit, you can have the best views of the Annapurna ranges, Machhapuchhre and also other mountains. After enjoying the breathtaking moment at the summit, you will forever reminisce about the journey you undertook. After enjoying some time there and clicking some pictures you will retrace your steps back towards the base camp. On the return journey from base camp, you get to Korchon, Hyangja, Riban villages and back to Pokhara. You get to Kathmandu for departure with another 6-7 hours of drive from the lake city, Pokhara. This whole journey of Mardi Himal Peak climbing offers you dense forests of Rhododendron along with the magnificent view of Himalayas in the background and interesting lifestyle of Gurung, Thakali, and Manangi and Magar people. Rocky trails with the steep climb and descending are worth giving a shot for any nature lover who feels adventurous and daring.

Upon arriving, you are picked up by our representative and checked into the hotel. You can have a rest after your long tiring journey. Then in the evening time, have a nice warm dinner in the hotel that reflects Nepali food culture.

You leave early from Kathmandu and head towards Pokhara. Along the Prithvi highway, you can see green hills, few settlements, and swift flowing Trishuli River. After reaching the beautiful city of Pokhara, you visit a few major tourist spots like Davis Falls, Phewa Lake, and Talbarahi Temple.

Leaving the lake city behind, you move to Hyangja in a 45 minutes’ drive. Your trek begins from Hyangja and you walk for around 3-4 hours to reach Ghachowk. You have to cross the Mardi River by a rope bridge and then walk along the bank of Seti River. Continuing the walk you will finally arrive at Ghachowk and enjoy the sunset view on Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Mardi (5553m) peaks.

Today we will walk through the paddy fields, dry stone walls, and beautiful houses. We will pass three small villages namely Saripakha, Dhiprang and Mirsa to finally lead us to Sano Khoban. We will camp at the pastureland land of Sano Khoban for the overnight.

After having breakfast, we will walk towards Pipa from Sano Khoban. We have to ascend up the serene forest trail with the chirping sounds of birds accompanying us throughout the journey. Then you will walk through the steep ridge which leads you to the small lake in Pipa. You spend the night in a tented camp at Pipa.

Day 6 is for acclimatization which means rest day to allow trekker’s body to get familiar with the high altitude. The thinning of air in higher altitudes can cause health issues that can disturb your trip. It is up to you either to rest, interact with locals or take short hikes around to appreciate the beautiful landscape.

On this day, we will walk through the ridgeline from Pipa towards Thulo Kharka. Surrounded by Annapurna Himalaya Ranges, Machhapuchhre (6997m) and Mardi Himal (5553m), the rocky trail can be exhausting but exciting at the same time. We will continue our trek along the pleasant landscape to reach the beautiful grazing grounds of Thulo Kharka.

From Thulo Kharka, you will walk towards Mardi Himal Base Camp. It is located between south and southeast ridges of Mardi Himal, you set a camp at Mardi Himal Base Camp and stay there overnight.

You continue the trek to Mardi Himal High Camp at 4,650m by trekking 2-3hours from the base camp. The trek is short but you will walk through the steep trail with forests, ridge, green meadows and snow with Annapurna Range overlooking the trail. You will not find drinking water throughout the trek so you must fill the bottles at the base camp.

This is the day you finally conquer Mardi Himal at an elevation of 5,553m. In the beginning, we have to climb between Mardi Himal (5553m) and Machhapuchhre Himal (6997m). Then from here, we have to walk towards the base of couloirs with the help of crampons. After a long snow climb, we will reach the col from where it takes an hour to reach the top. It is a tiring climb but the breathtaking view of Annapurna ranges, Machhapuchhre, and other high snow-capped ranges make it worthwhile. After having quick pictures, you have to descend to Base Camp by trekking about 7-8 hours for staying overnight.

Today while moving down, we use a different route back to Pokhara. We will pass through grazing lands along the way to Korchon. With many viewpoints to see the picturesque landscape around, it is a gradual descent relatively easier than any trek as you reach Korchon to camp for the night.

After having breakfast we will walk descend down towards Riban from Korchon. The downhill trail along Odane Hill needs slow descend to be safe and careful on the unstable ground. You also pass a dense forest before arriving at Riban to stay overnight at a tented camp.

Further ahead, you trek around 3 hours to reach Riban from Hyangja. Crossing the Mardi river and rope bridge once again, you walk past peaceful villages on the way. As you need to return to Pokhara to stay overnight, it takes you only around 45 minutes’ drive along the scenic route from Hyangja.

It takes you around 7 hours to return to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Once checked in into a hotel, you can either rest or explore downtown Thamel for buying souvenirs and enjoying local food.

On day 15, marking the end of this trip, you are accompanied by our representative to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. If you enjoyed this visit, feel free to come back to Nepal anytime in the distant future.
