Kathmandu to Kakani Downhill Cycling Tour is one of the easiest and euphoric activities to escape the busy city life and enjoy nature at its best. Positioned 24 KM towards the northern part of Kathmandu valley, Kakani is one of the admired destinations to savor the panoramic views of Mt. Annapurna (8091m/ 26,545ft), Mt. Manaslu (8165m/ 26,781ft), Ganesh Himal (7446m/ 24,422ft), and Mt. Langtang Lirung (7245m/ 23,763ft) alongside few other  mountains over 6000 meters above sea level. This short cycling tour to Kakani also encompasses you through Chisapani and Nagarkot which are the best-known hill stations on the Kathmandu rim valley. You may encounter both uphill as well as downhill trails during this tour. Though the roads are blacktopped and smooth, you can expect some rough trails in fewer sections. The main attraction of this cycling tour is the exploration of the medieval town of Sankhu, the people, their culture and traditions along with breathtaking views of lush green forests and landscapes. Amid the tour, you will come across Nagarkot and Chisapani, which are popular for the amusing views of sunrise and sunset alongside exceptional natural beauty. Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu to Kakani, 47 Km

We will initiate our cycling tour to Kakani from Thamel. Passing through the Bhimdhunga, we will reach out to Mudkhu where we will stop for our breakfast. After having a light breakfast we will continue our journey to Kakani via Tinpiple. The 17 KM of the uphill trail starts from here. We will stay at the teahouse for overnight enjoying sunset views. Apart from its natural beauty, Kakani is also famous for trout and strawberry farming.

Day 02: Kakani to Chisapani, 67 km

Enjoying the beautiful sunrise view, we will start riding towards Chisapani encompassing lush green forest and villages. Following the playful jeep tracks, we will come out to Mulkharka and stop for lunch. The hard uphill trail of 7 Km initiates from here leading you to Chisapani, a small hill station with beautiful views of mountain ranges. The scenic views of iconic mountain ranges, lush landscapes, and sunset and sunrise are the key features of Chisapani. It is also a famous spot for hiking around the valley.

Day 03: Chisapani to Nagarkot, 35km

After having a delightful breakfast, we will continue our ride to Nagarkot enjoying Himalayan views. We will ride down through rough track for 12KM to Jhule where we will stop for lunch. Following some uphill and downhill trails, we will reach out to Nagarkot via Manichaur. Nagarkot is a perfect destination for the astounding vistas of sunrise and sunset along with the glimpse of monstrous mountains. Towards the south of the town, there is a view tower from where you can get a panoramic vista of the landscape. Stay overnight in tourist standard hotel.

Day 04: Nagarkot – Sankhu – Boudhanath

On the fourth day, we will ride back to Kathmandu valley via Sankhu, the ancient Newar town in the valley. Then we will come out for Boudha where we will have our lunch and visit the Boudhanath stupa which is the largest stupa in the world and holiest temple for Buddhist around the world.  After our visit to Boudhanath stupa, we will continue riding to Thamel where our cycling trip would end.
