Everest Base Camp trekking route
The 17-days Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a visit around the capital, Kathmandu. The journey towards Everest Base Camp starts from Kathmandu Valley with a flight towards Lukla. The airstrip, often considered to be one of the most dangerous in the world, marks our entrance in the Everest realm. Our trek begins from Lukla towards Phakding and then to Namche Bazaar where we can get views of different mountains, all standing with insurmountable might and glory. The trek then heads to Tengboche passing Debuche on the way. Home to Tengboche Monastery, the village also sports spectacular views of the Himalayas like the Mt. Everest (8848m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Nuptse (7861m) to name a few. Passing Dingboche, Dughla, and Lobuche on the way, we reach Gorakshep. Exploration of Everest Base Camp (5364m) reveals majestic views of Khumbu Icefall, Glacier, and chains of mountains which can be overwhelming considering the sights that one can relish. The sunrise view over the Everest Himalayas in the following day from the Kalapatthar viewpoint is similarly enchanting in nature. These natural wonders make the toiling journey worth of all your efforts. After this, the trek retraces the same path and ends with a fight to Kathmandu from Lukla. The Everest Base Camp Trek is best when done in autumn (September to November) when the temperature is bearable cold and skies are clear. However, any other seasons are also viable for the trek. Also, the trek, being moderately difficult, can be done by anyone with a decent physical and mental condition.

Itinerary
1
Day 1: Arrival
Your journey begins as you land in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. You will be received at the airport by one of our representatives who will drive you to your hotel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Sightseeing at Kathmandu
Today we will go for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. Kathmandu valley has three cities: Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, and Lalitpur. All of these three cities are ancient Malla kingdoms, boasting the art and architecture of the gone era through their palaces popularly known as Durbar Squares. If time could suffice, we will visit all of the three heritage sites listed under UNESCO. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding (2652m)
We will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla early in the morning. Lukla Airport is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world due to its location. From Lukla, we start our trekking, descending to Phakding through rhododendron forests and small Sherpa settlements. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
We will move from Phakding after breakfast. We will walk through the forest of pines and rhododendron to the Bengkar village. Cross Dudh Koshi River and pass various villages before you reach your destination, Namche Bazaar. Bazaar means market in Nepali, so Namche Bazaar is a tourist hub situated in the lap of the Himalayas. You will find many mountain climbers and trekkers enjoying in this town. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar Rest
Today we will rest from Namche to acclimatize. We can visit the Sherpa Museum to get a glimpse of the Sherpa culture and lifestyle, and also get some information on trekking and mountaineering. You can also explore this small town and its market. Amazing views of snow-capped peaks, including Everest (8848m), never leave or sight, so the rest day in Namche allows you to enjoy the Himalayan hospitality. Overnight in Namche.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3870m)
We will leave Namche Bazaar and start our trek to Tengboche. The path ascends through several Sherpa villages until we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a small village housing the largest monastery in the entire Khumbu region. Tengboche Monastery is also deemed as the most sacred monastery of the Sherpas in Khumbu. People who climb the Khumbu Mountains come here to take blessing for a safe ascent. Overnight in Tengboche.

Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche (4360m)
We will move out of Tengboche as we head on to Dingboche. The trail descends, and we will also walk through various kinds of forests. We will climb on stone steps to Deboche and cross the Imja River to reach Pangboche, which is famous for its monastery. We now enter Imja Valley. Then ascending for a while after crossing Lobuche River, we will reach Dingboche. Dingboche is a small Sherpa village serving an amazing view of the high Himalayas, including Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8414m). Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 8: Dingboche
We will take another day off trekking and rest in Dingboche to acclimatize. Although you will be able to view many mountains from Dingboche, you can also choose to hike to nearby hills to get an even more stunning view of the mountains and the surrounding landscape. You can also spend your time in Dingboche talking to friendly villagers. Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche (4940m)
The trail from Dingboche to Lobuche is beautiful as it offers views of various mountains throughout the way. We start trekking on a wide path, but as we go on, the path becomes narrow. Walking on stony trails through ridges and rocky hills, we will reach Lobuche. In Lobuche, you will find yourself surrounded by snowy peaks from all sides. we will climb to Lobuche. We pass the tombstones of deceased Sherpas as we ascend alongside Lobuche River. With the mountains shining on the horizon and the glacier on our side, we climb through the moraine of Khumbu Glacier towards the small settlement of Lobuche. Enjoy the ravishing view of the Khumbu Himalayas that now appear bigger. Overnight in Lobuche.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170m) to Everest Base Camp (5364m)
Today will be one of the most exciting days as we leave Lobuche for Everest Base Camp. The path is mostly ascending through the glaciers. You will reach the glacial lake of Gorakshep and take on a steep ascend to be at the foot of the gigantic Mount Everest (8848m). Upon reaching the base camp, the vista of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Pumori (7165m), Lingtren (6749m), and Khumbutse (6665m) among others shine beautifully in front of us. After enjoying some time at the base camp, we will hike down to Gorakshep for the overnight stay.

Day 11: Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m) to Pheriche (4280m)
From Gorakshep, we will hike to Kala Patthar early in the morning, when it is still dark outside. We move on a steep trail to reach Kala Patthar, which is the highest point of our trek and offers the most beautiful view of Mount Everest (8848m) along with the stunning sunrise. After watching the play of sunrise over the gigantic mountains, we will return to Gorakshep and walk down to Pheriche. Pheriche is a small agricultural and yak herding village. Overnight in Pheriche.

Day 12: Pheriche to Kyangjuma (3570m)
Today we will move from Pheriche to Kyangjuma as we walk by the river and through the forest. We can notice the change in landscape as the tree line increases. Then descending through the villages of Pangboche, Deboche, and Tengboche, we will reach Kyangjuma. Kyangjuma is yet another beautiful resting place. We can get a beautiful view of the majestic Ama Dablam (6856m) from Kyangjuma. Overnight in Kyangjuma.

Day 13: Kyangjuma to Monjo (2840m)
Today we will descend from Kyangjuma to Monjo via Namche Bazaar. We will walk through scattered settlements with an unending view of Thamserku (6608m) on the backdrop as we trek down to Monjo. Cross a suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River in Jorsalle, exit Sagarmatha National Park, and make a small ascend to reach Monjo. Overnight in Monjo.

Day 14: Monjo to Lukla (2800m)
The trek from Monjo to Lukla is a decent ascent through lush forests of rhododendron and magnolia. Following the trails of Dudh Koshi River, we will walk past many painted Mani walls and prayer wheels as the trail have small monasteries in abundance. We will arrive in Lukla enjoying a gorgeous view of Kusum Kanguru (6367m). Overnight in Lukla.

Day 15: Lukla to Kathmandu
Today we will be flying from Lukla to Kathmandu. Boarding the early morning flight, we relish the aerial view of the high Himalayas and towering hills until landing in Kathmandu. You will be transferred to your hotel from the airport, so you can either rest or go sightseeing in the capital. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 16: Departure
We will drive you to the airport to connect you with your scheduled flight back home.

We booked through Kathmandu Adventures who are a charity based business and did the actual Everest Base camp trek with Epic Adventures Nepal. Everything went well from airport transfers, comfortable Kathmandu hotel and the trek. They were well organised and catered to the clients needs and best interest at all times. We obviously spent a lot of time with our guide Ramkumar who led us on a safe and enjoyable journey to Base camp and back and would definitely recommend his services. One of the boys was a bit sick one night and Ramkumar got up in the middle of the night to check he was OK! There was just myself and 2 sons in their early twenties and we all enjoyed the unforgettable experience of getting to EBC and back. We passed some larger groups and were thankful to be just a small group to go at your own pace. They are very conscious of the clients health and well-being.
