Mardi Himal Trek
Mardi Himal trek is the name of the long rising ridge and its summit (5,588m) that forms the south westerly slope of Mt. Machhapuchhre, immediately below its sheer south face. Machhapuchhre, which towers majestically your Pokhara Valley is best known as Fishtail Mountain because of its twin peaks that mirror vast majority of users of a fish pursue. It is a beautiful mountain and is wdiely seen as sacred. Permission to climb it has, so far, always been denied.

Mardi himal is situated just east.It is one of the most popular treks of Nepal. Mardi himal trek is a hidden gem.It is newly opened route and hidden treasure in the Annapurna region. It offer imaging view of Annapurna,Dhaulagiri,Machhapuchre and Manaslu ranges.As we know that winding roads are made in hills so the trail goes at first part slightly up,then a bit steepers to Australian camp(2060m an hour),then after that slightly downhill to pothana(1950m)then up again to Deurali(2100m).The path is through magical Rhododendron forests to what feels like the face of mountains themselves.
From high camp it take 3-4 hours when you climb up to Mardi himal base camp(4500m),which offers you the beautiful,spectacular close up, mind blowing views of the entire Annapurna Range .The climbing trip can be combined with a trekking adventure in the remote steep –sided valleys heavily wooded with bamboo and rhododendron.Peace habitat for wildlife ,good grazing are provided on the top of the high alpine forest.It prominence on the wilderness zone of the mountain designed to provide outstanding mountain views,and to get away from the tea-house trails and into the forests and villages that have not felt the impact of tourism.This journey is fun-filled and you get to experience real adventure and pleasure.
Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu(1300m)
A representative of Epic Adventures will be outside the airport terminal to greet you and take you to your hotel – overnight in Kathmandu. Meals include
Day 02 : Drive or /fly to pokhara (800m) 6 to 7 hrs. drive or/30 min fly to Pokhara
After breakfast we begin our drive to Pokhara by bus and air transportation.it takes 30 minutes. It’s best to get a seat on the right side to ensure you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. On arrival we will be escorted to our hotel and spend a leisurely afternoon in the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara. Included meals: B,
Day 03 : Drive to phedi trek to pothana deurali(2150m) 4 to5 hrs. Trek
Drive for an hour to reach Phedi. Then trek to the Deurali (a low pass) of Pothana village. You make a gradual ascent to your destination in about 4 hours. Stay overnight in Deurali. Include meals: B,L,D
Day 04 : Pothana Deurali to forest camp(2480m) 5 to 6 hrs. Trek
Walking through villages and forests, reach the forest camp in about 5 hours. Stay overnight in forest camp. Included meals: B,L,D
Day 05 : Forest camp to low camp(3150m) 5 to 6 hrs. Trek
You will experience the thrill of walking in the total wilderness of thick forests covered with rhododendron and other trees. Mostly the trees are covered with mosses and lichen. Occasionally the thick foliage opens into small windows, from which you will stare at the stunning sceneries of in the direction of Hiunchuli and Annapurna South. On the left side far below lies the Modi Khola Valley. As you approach the camp, captivating views of the northern face of Mt Fishtail greet. Stay overnight in forest camp. Included meals: B,L,D
Day 06 : Trek low camp to high camp(4100m) 5 to 6 hrs. Trek
Pass through rhododendron forest and alpine pasture land to reach the High Camp. In clear weather, you will definitely enjoy the Himalayan panorama. Stay overnight in high camp .Included meals: B,L,D
Day 07 : Excursion to Mardi Himal Base Camp(4500m) 4 to 5 hrs. Trek
The plan for today is to wake early for sunrise view of the mountains then after an early breakfast walk up the ridge towards Mardi Himal Base Camp. There is a well-established trail through the grass with a couple of steeper sections however overall not too challenging. Look out for the dzokpo (yak/ cow crossbreds) grazing up here as well as Danphe pheasant. In the summer the sheep and goats from lower villages are brought up to graze in this area so you will pass a number of herder’s huts along the way. After three hours you should reach Base Camp at the elevation of 4500m this is where one can look into the Annapurna Sanctuary and the panorama view is spectacular looking at south face of Annapurna and all of the peaks in the Sanctuary as well as Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). Day 08 : sightseeing day/trek to siding village(1750m) 5 to 6 hrs Trek
Relax, acclimatize, and explore the surrounding areas from this high vantage point. Have your fill watching the panorama today. On the way back we take a different route so completing a circuit, from Low Camp there is a trail that goes down to Siding village rather than going back down Mardi Himal back to Kokar. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village and still very much away from the busier modern tourist treks and it is likely you will stay at a homestay in Siding owned by the person who runs one of the lodges at Low Camp. It is a wonderful cultural experience finding out more about village life and you will probably eat dhal baht in the evening with the family in their kitchen. Stay overnight in guesthouse. Day 09 : Trek to lumle and and drive to pokhara/3hours walking and 2 hours driving
From Siding you walk out to the road head at Lumre, on the way from Siding you will pass the villages of Kalimati and Ghalel. Kalimati is mainly a Brahmin village with Ghale and Siding mixed Brahmin and Gurung. At Lumre you will meet jeep organised by Wilderness Excursion in advance to drive you back to Pokhara. Day 10 : Pokhara to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we start our drive back to Kathmandu. It will be better to sit on the left side of the bus to enjoy the scenery. On arrival in Kathmandu, we will be escorted to our hotel and spend a leisurely afternoon, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping and in the evening celebrate dinner together with Epic Adventure Nepal staff, at a Cultural dinner and show. Day 11 : Final Departure
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! An Epic Adventures representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal. Included meals: B
