Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek
This amazing adventure combines the diversity of spectacular views of the Himalayas with a vast number of exciting ethnic encounters.The Langtang Gosaikunda and Helambu are three different places which has own figure. Around the langtang, you can see scenic view of landscape, diversity of forest and various type of wild life animal like red panda, monkey snow leopard and among others; Gosaikunda has famous pond which is related to Hinduism likewise different Sherpa and gurung cultures and their lifestyles can be seen in the Helambu.
The highlights of Langtang Circuit trek are numerous. However, the main areas of interest are the rhododendron and bamboo forests with an abundance of wildlife, majestic waterfalls flowing over mammoth boulders, a chance to bathe in soothing hot springs, magnificent views of the snow covered white giant Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft) and visiting the holy lakes of Gosainkunda.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu – 1,300m/4,264 ft
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Epic Adventures. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Epic Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel. Included meals:
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhu Nath) and Buddhists shrine (Bouddha Nath). In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items. Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Syabrubesi: 8 hours by bus
We will start early in the morning to take the bus to Syabrubesi; the starting point of the trek. After Trisuli Bazaar the road becomes rough due to the grubby road. During the bus ride you will pass through many small villages. Overnight in Syabrubesi (1,440m/4,724ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 04: Syabrubesi – Lama Hotel: 5-6 hours
We are crossing over the suspension bridge and heading along a stream. The River we are are following is the Langtang River. You can enjoy the walk through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forests. There is also a variety of wildlife in these forests: yellow-throated martens, wild boars, langur monkeys, red pandas and Himalayan black bears. (2,470m/8,104ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 05: Lama Hotel – Langtang: 5- 6 hours
After having breakfast we will continue our trek to the next destination, descending towards a steep forest slope to the Langtang River. We cross a bridge and head up on a winding path. The trail descends into a valley crossing a stream and climbs past several water-driven mills and prayer wheels towards the large settlement of Langtang. Overnight in Langtang (3,430m/11,253ft). Day 06: Langtang – Kyanjin Gompa: 4-5 hours
Today is a short walk. We pass through tiny villages, stone-built houses and climb to a Chorten and past a huge mani stone along a gentle path on top of a hill. Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 07: Kyanjin Gompa: Exploration day
Today we take time to acclimatize and explore the surroundings. This place is famous for cheese and curd. Kyanjin Ri (4,800m/15,748ft) and Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,404ft) are the good viewpoints in the area that you can climb. After the breakfast visit Tserko Ri (5000m) for spectacular views of the langtang Lirung, Langtang range, Kinshung, Yansa Tsenji and the foot of the huge Lirung Glacier. Back to guest house for Lunch, having short rest and walk around the Kyanjing valley with guide. Overnight in Kyanjin Gompa. Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel: 5-6 hours
Today we retract to Lama Hotel and walk all the way downhill but we will see fantastic views of towering mountains which we might have missed on the way up. Here we can take our time to take pictures and absorb the views. Overnight in Lama Hotel (2,470m/8,104ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 09: Lama Hotel – Thulo Syabru: 5-6 hours
Today the trail decsents to the river which we cross and then ascend to Thulo Syabru. We will see the fascinating view of Langtang Himal and more. On the way we will pass through pine and Juniper forests. Overnight in Thulo Syabru(2,230m/ 7,316ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 10: Thulo Syabru – Shin gomba: 3-5 hours
We take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and continue less steeply through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Shin Gomba. On the way we will see fantastic views of Langtang Himala and Langtang Valley. Shin Gomba is another popular place for Cheese. Over night in Shin Gomba (3,330m/10,925ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 11: Shin Gomba – Gosainkunda: 5-6 hours
The trail ascends smoothly through rhododendron forests. The area between Shin Gomba and Laurebina Yak is a sanctuary for the red panda, an endangered species that the Nepalese call cat bear. We return to the ridge path and climb a wider route to arrive at Gosainkunda. Explore around the Lakes and overnight in Gosainkunda (4,460m/14,632ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 12: Gosainkunda – Gopte: 6-8 hours
Today is a challenging day; the trail is rough and we climb and cross moraines. Passing three small lakes, the trail ascends and crosses Laurebina La (4,609m/15,121ft). The path then leads us down to Phedi and we continue walking up and down crossing a rocky hill with pine & rhododendron trees. Overnight in Gopte (3,440m/11,286ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 13: Gopte – Malemchigaon: 6-7 hours
We trek down through a forested area and climb through a dry river-bed to arrive at Kharka that is surrounded by rhododendron forest. After a walk through the forest we arrive at the village of Thare Pati. Trekking the ridge directly above the village gives us a marvelous view of the Jugal area. After leaving the village behind us we enter a forested area, again descending to Melamchi River followed by climbing up to Malemchigaon (2,560m/8,399ft) to stay overnight. Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 14: Malemchigaon – Tarke Gyang: 5-7 hours
Today we enter the Helambu Region. Walk up to Tarke Gyang where we can enjoy the Sherpa culture, traditional village and monasteries. The stone houses are close together with narrow alleyways separating them. Overnight in Tarke Gyang (2,590m/8,497ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 15: Tarke Gyang – Sermathang: 3-5 hours
We will trek through a small forest with views of beautiful villages of the Helembu region. The trail follows around the valley and ends between Parachin and the pretty Sherpa village of Gangyul. The people of this village practice Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight in Sermathang(2,610m/8,563ft). Included meals:B.L.D.
Day 16: Sermathang – Melamchi Puul Bazaar -Kathmandu : 3-4 hours; 2 hour bus
A short trek takes us down to Malemchi Puul Bazaar with many Sherpa villages on our way. From there we catch a bus back to Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, in the evening, there will be dinner and Cultural show hosted by Epic Adventures. Included meals:B.D.
Day 17: Farewell Friend
We are saying good bye to the mountains as journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organise the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Epic Adventures will take you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal. Included meals:B
